Plink Pong

A wall-mounted public intervention, inviting passersby to spin it and take a moment to get lost in the sound, sight, and touch. Produces sound and motion through spontaneous movement. No two spins are the same, but they are predictable enough to be soothing. Playful, public-facing. Supports brief or repeated engagement.

Prototype 2

In on-site anonymous surveys, it was repeatedly noted that the location of Plink Pong (next to 2 classrooms in the Design corridor at Concordia University) made people uncomfortable interacting with it. They worried about the noise. In response to an “I wish” prompt requesting more objects and using both pieces of feedback, I introduced new balls into the prototype.

This prototype was designed so that the front panel can be removed and the interior accessed, so switching out the objects was simple.
